受疫情影響，IB於過去三年調整評核方式，令學生容易取得高分。然而，隨着疫情的結束，IB「分數通脹」不復存在，加之中英文增加了試卷二，給考生成績增加了難度和不確定性。Because of the pandemic, the IB adjusted the way it assessed candidates over the past three years, making high scores easier to come by. With the pandemic now behind us, however, IB "grade inflation" is gone, and the reinstatement of Paper 2 in Chinese and English has added both difficulty and uncertainty to candidates' results.
23名狀元究竟花落誰家？Where Did the 23 Top Scorers Come From?
截至發稿，尚有部分學校未公佈今年的成果，因此以下統計僅20人。As of writing, some schools have yet to announce this year's results, so the tally below accounts for only 20 of them.

香港的優勢正在消失？Is Hong Kong Losing Its Edge?
所謂的「成績整體下滑」，其實只是回到了疫情前的水平，把疫情期間的成績「水分」擰乾了，留下了「乾貨」而已，並不能説明學生的素質和教學質量有所下降。The so-called "across-the-board decline in results" is really no more than a return to pre-pandemic levels. The water has been wrung out of the grades awarded during the pandemic, leaving only the solid substance behind. It does not mean that the calibre of students or the quality of teaching has fallen.
2023年IB全球滿分人數鋭減至179人（2022年為640人），平均分為30.24，為近四年最低。除了中國內地未公佈官方數據外，在全球IB爆冷的情況下，香港平均分為36.4，高於新加坡（35.05）、英國（34.67）和泰國（33.21）。In 2023 the number of perfect scorers worldwide fell sharply to 179, down from 640 in 2022, and the global average slipped to 30.24, the lowest in four years. Apart from mainland China, which has not released official figures, Hong Kong stood out against this worldwide slump with an average of 36.4 — ahead of Singapore (35.05), the United Kingdom (34.67) and Thailand (33.21).
可見，雖然今年香港狀元人數大幅縮水，但平均分高出強勁對手新加坡1分有餘，優勢明顯。Clearly, although the number of Hong Kong top scorers has shrunk considerably this year, its average score is more than a full point ahead of its strongest rival, Singapore — a decisive advantage.
不難看出，儘管2023年狀元人數由2021年130人、2022年93人鋭減至23人，但狀元率依然位於全球前列，佔據12.8%的比率。這意味着每8個狀元裏就有一位來自中國香港，如此看來，香港的優勢更加明顯。It is not hard to see that, even though the number of top scorers has fallen from 130 in 2021 and 93 in 2022 to just 23 in 2023, Hong Kong's share of the world's perfect scorers remains among the highest anywhere, at 12.8%. That means roughly one in every eight top scorers worldwide comes from Hong Kong — which makes the city's advantage all the more apparent.
